Are you a Starwood Preferred Guest by American Express cardholder?

Good for you – today is your lucky day!

American Express is currently offering a 2,500 Starpoints bonus to cardholders that add an authorized user to their account.

Add SPG Auth User

You may have received an email detailing out this bonus, but no worries if not – just head here to add an authorized user to your account (make sure to note the bonus language)! The promotion runs through September 19, 2016 (and is limited to one per cardholder), so if you are interested, make sure to add the authorized user before that date!

Tip: Before adding an authorized user to your account, make sure to read up on how your credit and your authorized user’s credit may be affected! While no credit inquiry (hard pull) will be made on the authorized user credit profile, it will appear as a new account, which may have implications as it relates to Chase credit card applications and their “5 new accounts in 24 months” rule. So, if your potential authorized user is planning on a Chase application in the near future, it may be wise to hold off on this promotion until after you apply for your Chase card.

Remember, though American Express sign-up bonuses are limited to once per lifetime, adding an authorized user will not have any effect on your authorized user’s ability to earn the bonus on this card in the future!

2,500 Starpoints Value -Is it worth your time?

Well, considering 2,500 Starpoints can get you a Free Weekend Night at a Category 1 SPG Hotel, a Cash + Points night at a Category 2 SPG Hotel, or a Room Upgrade at a Category 1 – Category 7 SPG Hotel – I would say YES! It is worth it!

Final Thought

When it comes to the points game, every point counts, no matter how small the promotion!

For the many of you who took advantage of the increased sign-up bonus this past March (and all other existing cardholders), this is a great opportunity to add an easy 2,500 Starpoints to your account!

My wife and I both have this card and will be adding each other as authorized users in the very near future!

Will you be taking advantage of this SPG promotion?

Happy Travels
