If you are in the market for a great points earning credit card with a current all-time high sign-up bonus, then here is some advice… Apply for The Starwood Preferred Guest credit card by American Express today!

Good Advice Pic
This is good advice – at no charge!

The Starwood Preferred Guest credit card by American Express has just introduced its highest sign-up bonus in history at 35,000 Starpoints – which are among the most valuable reward currency in the points and miles world! Be quick because this offer is only valid through March 30, 2016.

Starwood 35K Bonus
35,000 point sign-up bonus is an all-time high for this card!

I listed the Starwood Preferred Guest credit card by American Express in my February Top Cards List when the sign-up bonus was just 25,000 points, so this increase in 10,000 points is HUGE news!

For those of you unfamiliar with the Starwood (SPG) brand, their hotels include W, Westin, Le Meridien, St. Regis, and Sheraton, among others. Keep in mind that SPG and Marriott have an upcoming merger (more details here), so in the future the SPG program may experiences changes from its current form – but for now, this is a great offer that you should take advantage of if you can!

Don’t get left out… take advantage of this offer on the Starwood Amex before 3/30/16!

While 35,000 points may seem on the low end when compared to the 50,000 point bonus on the Chase Sapphire Preferred, the value lies in the flexibility of Starpoints. Starpoints can be redeemed directly at SPG Hotels, or they can be transferred to over 30 airline partners – SPG will even tack on an extra 5,000 miles when you make a transfer of 20,000 to an airline partner!

Personally, I utilize this card for a majority of my everyday spending (with the exception of travel and dining purchases, which go to my Chase Sapphire Preferred) since the value per point is so amazing.

The SPG & CSP cards receive most of my everyday spending!

If you redeem points for Starwood stays, those 35,000 points are enough for 10 nights at a Category 1 Hotel like the Sheraton Athlone Hotel in Ireland, a 2 night stay at a Category 5 Hotel like The Westin Copley Place Boston, or 1 night at a Category 7 Hotel like the St. Regis Princeville Resort in Kauai, Hawaii! (See the category chart here).

Make sure you check out the Na Poli Coast via helicopter when you take a break from sitting poolside at the St. Regis Princeville!

Mallory was able to get the sign-up bonus for this card the last time that there was a 30,000 sign-up bonus and we plan to use those points for our upcoming stay at the Category 2 Le Meridien Chiang Mai in Thailand!

So with all of that, here is a quick recap of the offer:

  • 35,000 bonus Starpoints upon making $3,000 in purchases within the first 3 months.
  • Earn 5 Starpoints for every $1 spent at Starwood hotels and 1 Starpoint for every $1 spent anywhere else.
  • No Foreign Transaction Fees on international purchases.
  • Enjoy complimentary, unlimited Boingo Wi-Fi on up to four devices at more than 1,000,000 Boingo hotspots worldwide. Enrollment required.
  • Get free nights at over 1,200 hotels and resorts in nearly 100 countries with no blackout dates. Some hotels may have mandatory service and resort charges.
  • $0 introductory annual fee for the first year, then $95
  • 35,000 offer expires 3/30/2016 – so ACT NOW!

Final Thoughts

If you do decide to apply (and you like what we post here on AYP), then consider using a link within this post (like this one!) to earn me an extra 5,000 Starpoints referral bonus! I am not compensated for anything posted on this site, so a little extra bonus would be very much appreciated!
