Park Hyatt St. Kitts Opening Delayed… Again… til December??
To say that I am excited about the opening of the Park Hyatt St. Kitts would be an understatement. Excited is what I get when I realize that there is still one last dark chocolate espresso bean left in my pantry…. but when a luxury resort opens its doors just a few hours away AND I can use points and miles to stay for free!? I am ELECTRIFIED!
But, will this Park Hyatt ever actually open?
Delays, delays, delays… this hotel has been nothing but delays for quite some time now!
The Park Hyatt St. Kitts Opening Spring 2017! Delayed…
The Park Hyatt St. Kitts Opening Summer 2017! Delayed…
Just this past April, The Park Hyatt St. Kitts announced it’s most recent delay with a new estimated opening date of November 1, 2017.
The hotel even reached out to guests with reservations with reservations prior to that date, like Will Run for Miles, and provided the options to re-book, move or cancel stays!:
The Park Hyatt St. Kitts Opening Fall 2017! Delayed…?
I just received my 2 free nights as a part of the Chase Hyatt sign-up bonus, and I immediately went to book a hotel stay at the Park Hyatt St. Kitts, targeting a stay in mid- November! Perfect! The latest news we have heard is a November 1st opening, meaning a mid-November stay will make me one of the first few people (and probably the 50th or so points blogger) to visit the property!
Well, unfortunately for me (and maybe for you), it seems that there are no reservations available at this property in mid-November… or late-November… or early December… you get the idea!
Wait, so the hotel is set to open November 1st, but there are no reservations available until December 16th!?
Note: While the rate is bookable, there were no rooms available on this date (or any December dates) available for World of Hyatt award redemption.
Is the hotel really booked up at full capacity for a month and a half straight!? Maybe… or maybe…
The Park Hyatt St. Kitts Opening Fall 2017!
NO REASON TO PANIC, yet…
I followed up with Hyatt directly via Twitter and it seems that this property is in fact sold out until mid-December, which explains the lack of availability!
I want to believe that this is true and that the property is not experiencing further delays. I am hopeful, yet skeptical!
Final Thought
While I have heard no mention of a delay past the November 1st date, it does seem awfully interesting that reservations cannot be booked online for any date prior to December 16th. I guess we will just have to wait and see!?
Maybe the hotel truly is fully booked between November 1st and December 15th? Or maybe the hotel is just playing it safe and giving a bit of buffer room on reservations so they don’t need to re-accommodate more guests if another delay occurs?
I dunno…
Do you guys think the Park Hyatt St. Kitts will experience yet another delay, pushing the opening past November 1st!? Do any of you have a reservation prior to December 16th?
Happy Travels!

I spoke to Hyatt when my booking was last bumped. They “assured” me that this time they would be open by Nov. 1st, but I could not book with them between last two weeks of Dec. and first two weeks of January if I recall correctly. At this point I don’t remember if I was given the option of booking in November. My guess is that lots of people have already been rebooked for that time period because of the multiple delays. As for not being able to use the two free night certificates, a standard room has to be available for those and for points bookings, so with only a beachside king available the system won’t let you use them. Best availability I’ve seen so far starts in April.
Very appropriate to keep “assured” in quotes! Based on this hotel’s track record, another delay despite all their assurances would not be surprising! I just want this thing to open already, and more specifically, I want there to be points redemption availability prior to April!?
We have 4 nights booked in late January. Two free from my wife’s latest iteration of the card and two on points(30K/nt…ouch).
With published rates approaching $1000 that seems like a good use of free nights and some points.
Anyway, we already have air and are almost hoping it doesn’t open on time.
From what we’ve heard Hyatt returns the two free nights as well as the points and then comps the same length stay at either the Four Seasons Nevis(so people can keep their air) or reroutes to their Andaz Mayakoba property(it’s very nice).
Not sure what will come of this but we won;’t be at all surprised if this (Park) Hyatt gets delayed ala Baha Mar.
I’ll keep my fingers crossed that it doesn’t open on time for you! Haha either way it seems you will have an awesome trip!
